DESCRIPTION
Health emergencies claim millions of lives annually, with injuries alone causing 4.4 million deaths in 2019—8% of global fatalities (WHO, 2024). The burden is disproportionately higher in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where emergency rates are six times higher than in high-income nations. Strengthening emergency care systems could prevent over half of these deaths and a third of disabilities in LMICs (Reynolds et al., 2017).
This webinar addresses gaps in emergency care in LMICs, highlighting strategies to improve acute care and manage challenges like poisoning. It aims to equip healthcare professionals, policymakers, and academics with insights to enhance emergency response systems and foster collaboration, particularly in resource-limited settings.
